Founded in 2002, the Coalition of Asian Pacific Americans of Virginia (CAPAVA), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization (EIN 05-0571870), seeks to advance the cause of Asian Pacific Americans in the Commonwealth of Virginia by participating actively and fully as civic-minded citizens engaged in the areas of education, culture and civil liberties.
CAPAVA is a non-profit, non-sectarian, non-partisan pan-Asian statewide organization founded to advocate the policies and issues of Virginia’s Asian & Pacific American communities. This voluntary organization is comprised of Virginians from every APA community in the state. CAPAVA provides APA communities with information on state and local programs, policies that affect APA communities, and promotes access to Commonwealth and local government.
CAPAVA also holds educational and program service forums to help APA communities understand their rights and increase their opportunity to participate in the commonwealth’s economy and mainstream community. CAPAVA is represented on the Commonwealth’s Virginia Asian Advisory Board and is allied with APA organizations statewide.
